Ioannis is the CEO and Co-Founder of SaMMY, a leading startup in the global yachting industry market.
SaMMY as a startup, has been financed and awarded from European Commission (FIWARE-frontierCities, FIWARE-frontierCities2-MAG programmes), it has raised funding from other EU initiatives like H2020-‘SymbIoTe’ (Symbiosis of smart objects across IoT environments, H2020-’Vicinity’ (Open virtual neighbourhood network to connect IoT infrastructures and smart objects) – ‘Neptune’ (EC Blue Growth Accelerator) and recently selected as one of the TOP 20 EU startups in EC Blue Invest Day 2020.
Ioannis is an active member of different business groups and technology ecosystems, such as FIWARE-The Open Source Platform for our Smart Digital Future (www.fiware.org), ‘CORALLIA’: the cluster of creative industry companies (gi-Cluster), ‘STRATEGIS’: the Greek Maritime ICT cluster and Center of excellence, the Blue Growth Piraeus and others.
He regularly participates in Hackathon events like Piraeus Maritime Hackathon, Bluegrowth Hackathon, Copernicus Hackathon, Restartup Open Innovation Quest etc. and he is being a mentor of early stage startups in Blue Growth Incubator and Orange Grove Accelerator (supported by the embassy of The Netherlands).
Ioannis holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and a PhD in Computer Engineering and Informatics, both from the University of Patras, Greece.
