CapsuleT Accelerator στο Fintech Athens 3.0: Συνδέοντας Τουρισμό και Fintech
The CapsuleT Accelerator and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH) participated, for the 3rd consecutive year, as a collaborator, in the two-day Fintech Athens 3.0 conference, held on November 21-22. The conference, in which CapsuleT took place as a founding member of the Greek Fintech Hub — an initiative bringing together key organizations such as Endeavor Greece, NBG Business Seeds, the NKUA, the Athens University of Economics and Business, the Onassis Foundation as well as Crowd Dialog Europe— aimed to showcase the potential of financial technology (fintech) and its connection to the business world.
CapsuleT and HCH Contributions on Day Two of the Conference
The second day of the conference focused strongly on tourism, with two significant contributions from CapsuleT Accelerator and the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH):
The President of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels (HCH), Mr. Alexandros Vassilikos, participated in a panel discussion on educating the private sector in financial technology. During the discussion, he analyzed the importance of adopting fintech solutions in the tourism and hospitality sectors, emphasizing how these technologies can enhance business management, reduce operational costs, and improve customer experience. Additionally, he highlighted the rapid pace of technological evolution compared to the past. While it is increasingly challenging for hospitality businesses to keep up with and integrate all emerging technologies, efforts are being made to ensure continuous awareness and training regarding these advancements, aiming to keep the hospitality industry competitive and modern.
The Director of the CapsuleT Accelerator, Mrs. Katerina Saridaki, moderated a panel titled “Fintech Solutions for the Challenges of Tourism and Hospitality.” The panel included CapsuleT startups Travelr and Kleesto, as well as Mr. Christos Ioannou, CEO of Mast Hotels and Resorts, representing the hotel sector and the HCH Board of Directors. The speakers showcased specific fintech applications that simplify the daily management of critical issues in the hospitality sector, such as bookings, payments, and resource management, while simultaneously enhancing the overall guest experience.
Moreover, the discussion touched upon challenges related to staff training and the adoption of these solutions within small and medium-sized hotels and tourism businesses, particularly in Greece. It was noted that flexible solutions from startups could play a pivotal role in increasing the use of fintech tools, even among smaller enterprises in the industry.
The Importance of Fintech Athens 3.0
The Fintech Athens 3.0 conference highlighted the crucial role of financial technology in driving innovation and sustainability within the tourism sector. Through discussions and presentations, it became evident that fintech solutions can act as a catalyst for improving operational efficiency in tourism businesses and enhancing the competitiveness of Greece’s tourism offerings in the global market.
With its active participation, CapsuleT once again reaffirmed its commitment to serving as a bridge between innovation and the needs of the tourism industry, delivering solutions that address the challenges of the future.
